Sportsnet's John Shannon is insisting that a deal is in place to send Roberto Luongo to Toronto, despite Canucks GM Mike Gillis' denials.
He said that he never expected either team to confirm his story. "However, I have been told that the next time Roberto Luongo plays in the NHL, he will play for the Toronto Maple Leafs," Shannon said. "It is from a reputable source. End of story." Shannon did add that the deal might be canceled if the next CBA complicates matters. Regardless, Luongo will almost certainly be traded in the days following the end of the lockout.
