Ryan Nugent Hopkins will top all scorers at the World Junior Championships unless American John Gaudreau registers six points in the gold medal game Saturday.
Although RNH scored four goals and added 11 assists in only a dozen games in the tourney, he will be haunted by his performance against the Americans in a 5-1 loss that knocked Canada out of gold medal contention. In that game, Nugent-Hopkins failed to register a point. Of the loss to Russia in the bronze medal game Saturday, RNH had this to say: "Obviously I'm disappointed. I think all the guys in the room are. We battled hard, but fourth is not what Canada wants." Hopefully the Oilers' star can take this negative experience and use it as motivation when (and if) the NHL resumes play.
