Nashville inked center Mike Fisher to a two-year contract extension worth $8.4 million on Monday night.
"The off-season was very busy and we were able to accomplish most of our goals," GM David Poile said. "Signing Mike Fisher to a contract extension obviously is a big plus as we move forward to keeping our team intact. He's a great veteran player and now an assistant captain. He won the NHL Foundation award for community service and I think that speaks well of Mike not only as a hockey player but more importantly as a human being." Fisher finished second on the team with 24 goals and he was third in scoring with 51 points in 72 games.
