Mike Green has turned down the Washington Capitals qualifying offer of $5 million for one year.
Green is a restricted free agent, but is still in contact with the Capitals. "I don't elaborate on these things. But we're talking and I think there's a deal to be made there," Capitals GM George McPhee said. "So hopefully we'll have an answer today or tomorrow." Green has had a couple of injury-plagued seasons since his 76 point effort in 2009-10. He is only 26, so a bounce back season should be in the cards if he is able to remain healthy in 2012-13. Stay tuned.
