Matt Duchene blasted his Frolunda teammates Tuesday night, but clarified a day later to say his comments were blown out of proportion.
Following the 2-0 loss, Duchene criticized the effort level of some of his teammates, praising Joel Lundqvist but calling others' play "unacceptable." He continued, per hockeysverige.se: "If this was in the NHL, five players would be sent down to the minors after a game like this. But here, players are too comfortable. There are 33 million Canadians that would sacrifice an arm to play hockey at this level." Duchene, who has nine points in 12 games, told Adrian Dater of the Denver Post that he included himself in those comments and that Swedish reports did not include the good things he said about his teammates.
