Howard turned away 32 of 33 shots from the Sabres in regulation, and the veteran ultimately held on through the shootout frame on the road Wednesday night.

The lone goal against Howard from Brian Gionta prompted a video review, as it appeared that the goalie was interfered with on the play, but the tally counted and represented the only damage against Howard in an otherwise brilliant showing that resulted in Detroit snapping it's four-game losing skid. Howard has played much better than goalie teammate Petr Mrazek (4-5-1, 3.16 GAA) this season, but it's best hard to trust either guy lately with the Winged Wheel sinking only seven goals over the past five games.
