Erik Cole may join his locked out brethren on Friday if he gets clearance from a troublesome lower-body injury.
"I'm hoping to get locked out by the end of this week," he said Wednesday after a 50-minute session with Montreal strength and conditioning coach Pierre Allard. Cole has been dealing with the ailment since April, but he's very close to being deemed fit to play. "It ended up just being a nerve that was inflamed and trapped in some scar tissue. But it's been great since that calmed down." Cole expects to participate in the barnstorming tour, known as the Tourne des joueurs, once he is cleared but he has no plans to go overseas to play in Europe.
