Daniel Briere was critical of NHL commissioner Gary Bettman for his tactics during the labor dispute between the league and the players' union.
If there isn't a new CBA in place by mid-November then reports indicate Bettman will cancel the Jan. 1 Winter Classic, which will feature Detroit hosting Toronto. "Mid-November is what, a month and a half away?" said Briere. "Maybe if he spent less time worrying about who has the upper hand and maybe more time negotiating with the players, maybe more things would get done." The veteran forward wants to see more owners get involved in the situation, but a gag order is in place that could cost them fines of up to $1 million. Briere is working out in Voorhees for the time being, but he wants to play and said "being in limbo is not fun."
