Claude Giroux said that being named captain won't change the way he plays.
"Obviously, this is a huge honor," Giroux said in a statement after being named the 19th and fifth-youngest captain in Flyers history. "There have been a lot of great captains here in the past. Along with this comes a lot of responsibility which I am prepared for. Being named captain is not really going to change the way I play on the ice and act off the ice. But I am very excited about this opportunity." The 25-year-old center was tabbed as the team's next captain following the leadership he displayed in the first round of the 2012 playoffs against Pittsburgh. Giroux finished third in league scoring last season with 93 points (28 goals, 65 assists) in just 77 games.
