36-year-old Ryan Smyth is hoping to win the Stanley Cup with the Edmonton Oilers.
Smyth inked a two-year/$4.5 million contract with Edmonton on Sunday. "I wouldn't have taken the deal if I wasn't OK with it, but I feel there's tremendous upside in the team, particularly with the acquisition of (defenceman Justin Schultz and first-round pick Nail Yakupov). He seems to be excited and ready and willing to be a part of it," said Smyth. Of course, it's still hard to believe that Edmonton will win the Stanley Cup in the next two years. They have great young players, but after three straight seasons of finishing at or near the bottom of the league, their first step needs to be to simply make the playoffs.
