Stafford signed a two-year, $8.7 million deal to remain with the Jets on Tuesday, Sportsnet.ca's Elliotte Friedman reports.

The 29-year-old Stafford, who was acquired from Buffalo in February, finished up the 2014-15 season with 18 goals and 43 points in 76 games overall, but his production picked up with the Jets (19 points in 26 games), earning him a nice two-year payday with the team in advance of free agency.

Stafford celebrated his return to the playoffs for the first time since the 2010-11 campaign with a goal in Thursday's Game 1 loss to the Ducks.

He'll tell you that it would have been nicer to celebrate with a win, but it's still a promising result for Stafford, who's noticeably elevated his game since coming over from Buffalo at the trade deadline. The Jets will be counting on him to generate more offense as the series goes on.

Stafford was widely viewed as a throw-in to the megadeal back in February that sent Evander Kane to the Sabres, but in hindsight, he may have had a greater impact than any other forward who was moved prior to the deadline. In 26 games with the Jets, Stafford supplied nine goals and 10 assists, earning himself a top-six role heading into the postseason.

Stafford has accumulated four goals and seven assists during the stretch, which currently ranks as the longest active streak going in the NHL. A cool down of some sort should arrive before long, but continue to take advantage while you can.

The helper extends Stafford's point streak to a season-best seven games, during which he's accrued four goals and five assists. Since arriving in Winnipeg prior to the trade deadline, Stafford has been scoring at close to a point-per-game clip (15 points in 18 games), nearly the double the rate he delivered in Buffalo.

He has 12 points in 15 games in the Peg, 10 of which have come in the last nine games. Sure, he's playing over his head, but who cares? Take advantage. Heck, he might even be sitting on your wire.

The veteran wing is fitting in mighty well with the Jets, as he's now on a four-game point streak and has 11 points in 15 contests since escaping the Buffalo gulag. He's a solid fantasy roll in a wide variety of formats right now.

He's got a three-game point streak and six points in his last five games, so Stafford's really starting to find his stride in Winnipeg after posting inconsistent results in the first few games of his career outside of a Buffalo sweater.

Skating on a line with Mark Scheifele and Blake Wheeler, Stafford has racked up three goals and six points in 10 games with his new team. Considering he's seeing power-play time and is a former 31-goal-scorer, Stafford could be worth snatching up in some deeper leagues.
