Franson will play on Friday in Game 2 of Nashville's playoff series against the Blackhawks, Brooks Bratten of NHL.com reports.

As expected, Franson will return to the Predator's lineup on Friday against the Blackhawks. He'll likely return to his spot on the team's third defensive pairing. Franson has tallied one goal and three assists in 23 games with Nashville this season.

Franson (upper body) expects to play Friday against the Blackhawks, Kristopher Martel of FOX Sports reports.

Franson sat out Wednesday's opener due to the undisclosed upper body injury, but he told reporters Friday that he anticipates playing in Friday's Game 2. He'll likely return to his spot on the third defensive pairing.

Franson (upper body) will sit out Wednesday's playoff opener against the Blackhawks, Adam Vingan of The Tennessean reports.

Franson was present for Wednesday's morning skate, but remained on the ice for extra work after the regulars departed. The 27-year-old, who contributed only one goal and four points in his 23 games with Predators after being acquired in a Feb. 15 trade, will be replaced on the third defensive pairing by Anton Volchenkov. Franson is still being regarded as day-to-day.

Franson (upper body) did not practice Monday, the Tennessean reports.

Franson thus remains in the day-to-day category as Wednesday's playoff opener against Chicago approaches.

Franson (upper body) is considered day-to-day, according to Brooks Bratten of NHL.com.

While we suspect that Franson will be ready for the Preds' playoff opener, with just four points in 23 games with the team since being acquired from Toronto, he's only an option in deeper postseason formats.

Franson (upper body) won't play in Saturday's game against the Stars, Adam Vingan of The Tennessean reports.

The Predators will rest three defensemen (Franson, Shea Weber, and Roman Josi) will injuries Saturday, though all are believed to be minor. Since the team has already secured its playoff spot, Franson seems to have been ruled out of Saturday's meaningless season finale for maintenance-related reasons more than anything else. He's expected to be ready to play for Game 1 of the postseason.

Franson missed Friday's practice due to an upper-body injury.

The blueliner more than likely sustained the injury in Thursday's loss to the Wild. Franson's status looks to be in doubt for Saturday's regular-season finale against the Stars, but the Predators should provide clarity on the situation during morning skate.

Franson tallied his first goal as a member of the Predators in Tuesday's loss to the Canucks.

After producing six goals and 32 points across 55 games with the Maple Leafs before being acquired by the Predators in mid-February, Franson has been a non-factor during his time in Nashville. It took him 20 games to find twine, and he's only managed three assists while seeing his average time on ice drop below 16 minutes with the Predators. Feel free to drop him in favor of a more productive defenseman with the regular season winding down.

Franson recorded an assist in Monday's win over the Coyotes, giving him three points in 10 games with the Predators.

Franson hasn't quite had the impact the Predators were expecting after acquiring him from the Maple Leafs in mid-February. While some decline in his role could have been anticipated due to the Preds' depth on defense, Franson has still seen his ice time fall below 15 minutes on three occasions already with his new team. Now that Ryan Ellis seems to be healthy following a bout with a lower-body injury, Franson's minutes count may only diminish further.

Franson earned his first point back in a Preds' uniform Sunday, assisting on Mike Ribeiro's third-period power-play goal in a 2-1 shootout win over the Sabres.

Now on his second tour of duty in Nashville, Franson didn't take long to start contributing with his new (old) team. Against the Sabres, he saw ice time of 19:22, including a whopping 6:23 on the power play. With the Preds' big guns Shea Weber and Roman Josi eating up most of the top blue line minutes, Franson should still continue to see decent ice time playing the second pairing alongside Mattias Ekholm.
