Coburn (lower body) was placed on injured reserve Thursday, the NHL's official media site reports.

The Lightning lost three players to injuries in Tuesday's win over the Canadiens, with Coburn's 4-to-6 week recovery timetable representing the lengthiest absence. With the team in need of extra bodies to fill out its roster for Thursday's game against the Bruins, Coburn was moved to IR to pave the way for the promotion of forward Mike Angelidis.

Coburn is in line to miss 4-6 weeks with a lower body injury, the Tampa Bay Times reports.

Tuesday's 1-0 win over the Canadiens thus proves costly for the Lightning, with Coburn injured in the contest, along with forwards Ondrej Palat (out 2-3 weeks) and Cedric Paquette, who will be sidelined 10-14 days. GM Steve Yzerman, who relayed that Coburn's current injury isn't related to the blueliner's previous foot issues, indicates that the team's key trade deadline acquisition (who has notched two helpers in four games for the Lightning) could be back by the start of the first round of the NHL playoffs.

Coburn missed practice Wednesday due to an undisclosed issue, Erik Erlendsson of the Tampa Tribune reports.

It's possible that Coburn just received a maintenance day, as coach Jon Cooper neglected to specify which of the absentees from practice were nursing legitimate injuries. In any case, more information on his status for Thursday's game against the Bruins should be issued after the team completes its morning skate.

Coburn made his debut as a member of the Lightning in Tuesday's win over the Sabres. He played 16:29, blocked two shots, laid three hits and accumulated seven PIM.

Yep, that means he got into a fight -- it was a tilt with Marcus Foligno -- and that endeared him to the Tampa fans. He won't have much fantasy value per se, but the move will improve his plus-minus.

Coburn has been acquired by the Flyers for Radko Gudas, a first-round pick, and a third-round pick, TSN.ca reports.

A foot injury has limited Coburn to 39 games this season. While he's not a big contributor at the offensive end, he'll add a steady veteran presence to the Tampa Bay blue line, albeit at a pretty steep price.

Coburn returned to practice Saturday and it looks like he has a chance to return to action next week, after a month-long absence due to a broken foot. In 31 games so far this season, Coburn has managed just one goal and five assists.

Coburn (broken foot) took part in Saturday's practice, Randy Miller of the Newark Star-Ledger reports.

Coburn first resumed skating Wednesday and appears to have now moved on to the next phase of the recovery process. He's had some porous luck on the injury front this season with two fractures of his left foot, compromising the depth on an already thin Flyers blue line. Fortunately, it looks like his impending return next week -- along with perhaps Kimmo Timonen's later this month -- will soon bolster those ranks.
