Coburn (illness) is on the ice for pregame warmups and looks poised to play in Tuesday's Game 6 against the Rangers, Matt Baker of the Tampa Bay Times reports.

The Lightning are skating seven defensemen in their warmups, but it's likely the case where coach Jon Cooper is leaning toward going with only 11 forwards rather than 12, a lineup choice he's made previously in the playoffs. Coburn seems to be fine after participating in both morning skate and warmups, and should be in the lineup for minutes in the mid- to upper-teens.

Coburn (illness) is participating in Tuesday's morning skate, Joe Smith of the Tampa Bay Times reports.

Coburn fell ill during Sunday's Game 5 and missed most of the final two periods, but with 48 hours to recover, he'll likely be ready for Tuesday's Game 6. If not, the leading candidates to replace him in the lineup would be Mark Barberio, Slater Koekkoek and Luke Witkowski. The Lightning have been using seven defensemen and just 11 forwards, so it's also possible they'd replace Coburn with a forward, likely Jonathan Marchessault.

Coburn missed most of Sunday's Game 5 against the Rangers due to an illness, Renaud Lavoie of TVA Sports reports.

Lightning coach Jon Cooper hinted after the game that Coburn was vomiting on the bench, and the defenseman didn't play at all during the second period. Coburn finished with just 5:43 of ice time, after topping 15 minutes in each of the series' first four games. He can be considered day-to-day as the Lightning take a 3-2 series lead back to Tampa Bay for Tuesday's Game 6.

Coburn scored the game and series-winning goal in Wednesday's Game 7 win over Detroit.

The shot knuckleballed toward the Wings net and it kicked up over Petr Mrazek and into the net. But a goal is a goal, and this one gets the Bolts through to the next round.

Coburn (lower body) is slated to suit up for Thursday's playoff opener against the Red Wings, Joe Smith of the Tampa Bay Times reports.

Also getting the green light along with Coburn (who last suited up for the Lightning on March 10) were fellow blueliner Andrej Sustr and forward Alex Killorn. Meanwhile, defender Jason Garrison will not suit up for the contest. In four games for Tampa Bay prior to being sidelined, Coburn notched two assists. Previous to that, he had recorded nine points in 39 games for the Flyers.

Coach Jon Cooper said he expects Coburn (lower body) to play in Game 1 of the Lightning's first-round playoff series against the Red Wings on Thursday, Joe Smith of the Tampa Bay Times reports.

Coburn has been able to take contact while skating with the team the last few days, and with no setbacks with his injury to date, he appears to be trending toward a return to game action. The Lightning will still have to formally activate Coburn from injured reserve in order to facilitate his re-entry in the lineup, but that should take place following Thursday's morning skate. Expect Coburn, who was limited by injury to just four games with the Lightning after being acquired from the Flyers at the trade deadline, to assume a role on the team's third defensive pairing.

Coach Jon Cooper noted Tuesday that Coburn (lower body) is "questionable to probable" for Thursday's playoff opener against the Red Wings, NHL.com's Bryan Burns reports.

Coburn, who participated in Tuesday's optional skate, continues to inch toward a return to action and even if he is unable to suit up for Thursday's Game 1, it seems likely that the blueliner will play at some point during the Lightning's opening-round series.

Coach Jon Cooper said it would be a "gift" if Coburn (lower body) was active for Game 1 of the Lightning's first-round playoff series, Joe Smith of the Tampa Bay Times reports.

Coburn recently resumed skating with the Lightning and wasn't wearing a no-contact jersey at Thursday's optional session, but it sounds like he might still be waiting on clearance for doctors in order to play in games. The blueliner has been out since mid-March with the injury.

Coburn (lower body) joined his teammates for portions of Tuesday's practice, sporting a no-contact jersey, the Tampa Bay Times reports.

With that progress in mind, Coburn -- who last suited up on March 10 -- noted that he hopes to be ready to return to the lineup for the Lightning's first playoff game, next week.
