Saad signed a six-year, $36 million deal with the Blue Jackets on Friday, Yahoo! Sports reports.

Saad, who was acquired in a trade with the Blackhawks earlier in the week, will make roughly $6 million per year despite never reaching the 30 goal plateau. He's just 22 years old, however, so Buffalo is betting that he'll continue to improve. Saad should team with Ryan Johansen to form a formidable tandem on the Blue Jackets' first line.

Saad was traded to the Blue Jackets on Tuesday, TSN's Bob McKenzie reports. The Blackhawks will receive forwards Artem Anisimov, Marko Dano, Jeremy Morin, and Corey Tropp along with a 2016 fourth-round draft pick in return, according to Aaron Portzline of the Columbus Dispatch reports.

The Blackhawks experienced some traction in their initial extension talks with Saad, but the two sides were eventually expected to reach an agreement on a new deal. However, with the prospect of another team submitting a huge offer sheet to Saad -- a restricted free agent -- becoming a looming issue, the Blackhawks decided to try to get something back in return for the forward rather than lose him outright. After scoring 23 goals and 52 points in the regular season and submitting a strong playoff performance as the Blackhawks claimed the Stanley Cup, Saad was expected to assume an even greater role in 2015-16, but his circumstances shouldn't change too dramatically with his new team. Though he won't have the luxury of potentially playing alongside Jonathan Toews, Ryan Johansen is one of the league's top up-and-coming centers, and could help Saad elevate his game to new heights.

Saad appears to be further apart from signing a new contract with the Blackhawks, the Score 670 AM in Chicago reports.

Hawks' general manager Stan Bowman has said that he wanted to get Saad and Marcus Kruger, both restricted free agents signed by Wednesday, the start of NHL free agency. The Blackhawks want to sign Saad to a two-year contract at about $2.8 million per year while Saad's side is apparent looking for a long-term deal worth about $4 million per year. Despite the apparent discrepancy with the dollar numbers, Saad should re-sign with the Hawks. Saad's numbers for 2014-15 of 23 goals and 29 assists were slightly better than his first full NHL season in 13-14 of 19 goals and 28 assists. But it was his post-season numbers of eight goals and three assists along with his all-around play in the Stanley Cup playoffs that have people raving and making it a no-brainer that the Blackhawks will re-sign the restrict free agent. With the expected departure of Patrick Sharp from the Blackhawks, Saad could be in for a big 2015-16 season.

Saad scored the GWG in Wednesday's 2-1 win over the Lightning.

Saad took the puck to the net from behind the goal line, and was able to stuff a backhander under the left pad of Andrei Vasilevskiy to give the Hawks the lead for good. He has goals in two straight games, and the top line of Saad, Marian Hossa, and Jonathan Toews has looked dominant over that span.

Saad notched a goal and led the Blackhawks in PIM (four) and shots (six) in Monday's Game 3 loss to the Lightning.

Saad tallied his first point of the series 4:14 into the third period, when he took a Marian Hossa pass near the left circle and buried a one-timer. Despite his lack of productivity in the first two games of the series, Saad has been a primary sniper for the Blackhawks through much of the postseason, ranking in a tie for third on the team in goals (seven).

Saad tallied a shorthanded goal and a pair of assists in Saturday's Game 4 double-overtime win over the Ducks.

Saad notched the shortie when Ducks defenseman Francois Beauchemin got tied up with a referee during his team's first-period power play, allowing the Blackhawks winger to break away unmarked to the net. It went down as his first goal since Game 1 of the second-round matchup with the Wild, but that wouldn't be where his night would stop. Saad had a hand in each of the Blackhawks' next two goals to finish with a game-high plus-3 rating.

Saad netted the game-tying goal in Tuesday's 3-2 overtime win over the Predators for Game 4.

Saad has scored in consecutive games in this series, with his Game 3 deposit Sunday counting as the game-winning goal. The winger has been quite accurate shooting the puck, lighting the lamp on 25% of his shots in the quarterfinal round. He's a sneaky fantasy play skating on a team with a handful of more recognizable names, such as Jonathan Toews and Marian Hossa, to name a few.

Saad recorded two assists in Friday's win over the Sabres.

That's six points in six games for Saad, who hit the 50-point barrier for the first time in his young career. With 22 goals and 192 shots on goal, the 22-year-old, who plays on the power play with Jonathan Toews, has become a trusted fantasy option in most leagues.

Saad registered a power-play assist in Sunday's 4-3 win over the Jets.

Saad has points in three straight games, and perhaps more notably, saw 3:27 of power-play time Sunday, second on the Blackhawks only to Duncan Keith. With a top-six role at even strength also in hand, Saad might make for a quality roster addition in medium-sized or deeper formats for the final two weeks of the season.

Saad scored his 21st goal of the season and dished out an assist in Saturday's 6-2 win over over the Sharks.

The career year continues for the 22-year-old, who has reached (and now surpassed) the 20-goal plateau for the first time in his career. Saad also needs just three more points to eclipse his career high of 47 in that department as well, something that should come sooner than later skating for a potent Chicago offense.
