While it may not be the only factor, a 10-game pointless streak has no doubt figured into coach Phil Housley's decision to bench the winger. Selected fourth overall in the 2005 NHL Draft, the 31-year-old has not exactly lived up to expectations, as he has just 125 goals and 130 assists in 592 career games.

Pouliot scored his seventh goal of the season and added two helpers in Tuesday's win over the Avalanche.

It was a rare offensive explosion from Pouliot, who has just 10 points in 28 games. After playing just 14 minutes in the season opener and seeing his ice time dip to 10 minutes five games into the season, Pouliot has finally found a home on a line with Ryan O'Reilly and Kyle Okposo. Pouliot can still be a feast or famine scorer who went from 19 goals in his first season with Edmonton to just eight goals last year, but it looks like he's got the hot hand with all five of his goals this season coming within the past two weeks. Pouliot is worth a flyer for owners looking for some additional scoring in deep leagues, but he's still not a viable long-term option.
