Scrivens is likely to have some additional competition in net this season, according to the Oilers web site.

The Oilers currently have Ben Scrivens and Viktor Fasth as their starting goaltenders but could look to deal their second first round pick (16th overall) for one of several young netminders (Cam Talbot) that are available this off-season. If they keep the 16th overall pick, they could also select the top ranked goaltender on their board. We all know the Oilers will take Connor McDavid with the first overall pick but he won't solve all of their problems as defense along with goaltending will continue to be an issue.

Scrivens allowed six goals on 23 shots in Saturday's loss to the Canucks.

Scrivens is probably really glad this mess of a season has come to an end. The 28-year-old goaltender finished the year with four straight losses, allowing a whopping 20 goals in that span. With a 15-26-11 record to go with a .890 save percentage and 3.16 GAA, Scrivens really wasn't of much fantasy value this season. If the Oilers can turn things around in 2015-16, Scrivens is a prime bounce-back candidate.

Scrivens will be the starter in goal for Saturday's game against the Canucks, Jack Michaels of the Oilers Radio Network reports.

It was expected that Viktor Fasth would get the nod for the season finale after the Oilers activated him from IR a day earlier, but coach Todd Nelson decided that Scrivens was deserving of one more turn. Scrivens will be under contract 2015-16, but after he supplied a dismal 3.11 GAA and .892 save percentage over 56 games this season, the Oilers are sure to at least explore other options on the goalie market this summer.

Scrivens allowed four goals on 29 shots in Saturday's loss to the Flames.

Another poor showing from Scrivens, who's allowed a whopping 14 goals in his last three games. The 28-year-old falls to 15-26-10 on the season with a .892 save percentage and 3.11 GAA. He's the starter in Edmonton, but his awful rate stats and lackluster record makes him only of value in the deepest of leagues.

Scrivens will receive the start in goal Saturday against the Flames.

With Richard Bachman still away from the team to attend to a personal matter, Scrivens will earn a third consecutive start. It's hardly a deserved appointment, as he's been rotten in the previous two turns with a total of 10 goals allowed in losses to the Ducks and Kings. He can't be trusted to produce improved results in Saturday's matchup.

Scrivens was beaten for five goals on 21 shots Thursday before being pulled in an 8-1 shellacking at the hands of the Kings.

Ouch. Tyler Bunz came on at the start of the third period, making his NHL debut, and was no better. Just another miserable day at the office for Scrivens, who's allowed a spectacularly bad 21 goals in his last five games. Somehow, he's managed to win twice in that span.

Scrivens will start in net Thursday against the Kings, Elliott Teaford of the Los Angeles News Group reports.

Scrivens was all but guaranteed to start Thursday's contest with the news that Richard Bachman wouldn't be with the club for personal reasons. He struggled in his last start Wednesday, allowing five goals to the Ducks, and will face another tough opponent in the Kings on Thursday, playing on back-to-back nights.

Scrivens gave up five goals on 27 shots in Wednesday's 5-1 loss to the Ducks.

Another start and another loss for Scrivens, whose record dropped to 15-24-10 in this one. Worse than his record is his dismal 3.03 GAA and .894 save percentage, numbers that should have him well off your radar in next year's drafts.

Scrivens will be between the pipes for Wednesday's game against the Ducks, Mark Spector of Sportsnet.ca reports.

Coach Todd Nelson likely would have preferred to ride a suddenly hot Richard Bachman in goal for Wednesday's game, but with the netminder leaving the team due to a death in the family, Scrivens will pick up his first start since March 25. The Oilers have been playing their best hockey of the season of late with victories in six of their past eight games, but Scrivens' overall body of work shouldn't inspire a ton of confidence for the winning ways to continue much longer. The Ducks have been victorious in both of the two teams' previous three meetings this season, with Scrivens on the losing end of a 2-1 decision back on Feb. 21.

Scrivens stopped 41 of the 44 shots he faced in Wednesday's 4-3 win over the Avalanche.

Scrivens faced a ton of shots once again, but played well and was able to pick up the victory. He's now 15-23-10 on the season with a .896 save percentage and a 3.00 GAA.
