Ilya Bryzgalov G EDM Sep 11 '12
Ilya Bryzgalov feels trimmer and ready to put some of the troubles he experienced last season behind him.
He lost about eight pounds during the summer and says his comfort level has improved. "To be honest, I don't analyze everything that happened last year," said Bryzgalov, who has been working out at the Skate Zone in Voorhees. "I feel totally comfortable right now here. I understand the Philly media. I understand the Philly fans right now. I know what to expect from everybody in the locker room." Flyers GM Paul Holmgren expects his number one netminder to be better because "he's a good goalie" and "he has a year under his belt in a pressure-packed marketplace." Philadelphia may be weaker defensively this year, but they still have an impressive crops of forwards, so wins shouldn't be an issue. If Bryzgalov can play more consistently this campaign then he should become a solid starter in fantasy hockey, but don't draft him with the expectation that he will shoot up into elite status because he is still a bit of a gamble.
