T. J. Oshie C STL Jul 15 '12
Salary arbitration hearings are scheduled to begin Friday with Blues center T.J. Oshie prepared to state his case.
The two sides have discussed a long-term contract but had not reached an agreement. His situation, if it remains unresolved, is worth following, in the opinion of Buffalo News hockey columnist Bucky Gleason, who also notes that Oshie had a career year with 19 goals and 54 points last season while making $2.35 million. One comparable could be his teammate, David Perron, even though they play different positions. The two were picked late in the first round two years apart, and their careers have run parallel. Perron avoided arbitration when he signed a four-year deal worth $15.25 million.
