According to TSN insider Darren Dreger, the Washington Capitals are likely to explore trading the negotiation rights for pending unrestricted free agent Alexander Semin.
He potted 21 goals and 54 points in 77 games with the Capitals last season, but is probably going to free agency on Sunday. Washington traded defenseman Dennis Wideman on Wednesday to Calgary in a similar situation, so it isn't surprising that they would want to get something for Semin as well.
