Dustin Byfuglien D WPG Jun 21 '12
Winnipeg coach Claude Noel is looking forward to having Dustin Byfuglien back in the fold next season, where he hopes to get the best out of the defenseman's sometimes high risk style.
"When I sat down with Dustin and talked to him, he and I have a good relationship and we clearly know where I want to go. And we're trying to go down that road together," said Noel. "Dustin Byfuglien is a good player, a really good player. He's always had some areas of his game where you'd like him to be a bit better. Not only our organization, but organization's in the past. My job as a coach is to consistently get him to present his A-game. That's the challenge I have and it's been the challenge all this year." The Winnipeg blueliner struggled at times with his defensive responsibilities in 2011-12, but he flourished in the offensive zone with 12 goals and 41 assists in 66 games.
