Jarret Stoll stressed that the Kings' game plan in the Stanley Cup Finals is to keep the games tight and to not get into a track meet with the New Jersey Devils.
"We want to win games 2-1, 1-0, 3-2, whatever," he said. "Our defensive game is our base. We don't want to have that track meet style of game, the rush game back and forth. That's the game that guys like (Zach) Parise and (Patrik Elias) and (Ilya) Kovalchuk want and we're definitely not going to give them that." It's worth noting that the New York Rangers tried this style of play too and it didn't work versus the Devils forecheck system. The difference in this series will probably come down to Los Angeles attacking the puck as much as the Devils do and whichever team manages to crack the other first will emerge with the Cup.
