Poulin was returned to AHL Bridgeport after Tuesday's loss to the Canadiens. Poulin was recalled from Bridgeport prior to Tuesday's game to serve as the backup to Chad Johnson while No. 1 goalie Jaroslav Halak (undisclosed) remained unavailable. Halak's absence was somewhat of a mystery after coach Jack Capuano gave Halak the last two practices off with what were described as "maintenance days," and as Poulin's demotion would suggest, it doesn't sound like he's in danger of missing any time once the Islanders return from their Christmas break Saturday. Poulin is 9-6-4 and has a 2.54 GAA and .924 save percentage over 19 outings at Bridgeport.
