Former Raiders and Jaguars DT John Henderson announced his retirement.
While still a worthwhile rotational run defender, Henderson is calling it quits at age 33 after ten seasons in the league. "Big John" became a YouTube hero for taking pre-game smacks in the face (literally) from trainers, but he was a dominant player in his prime. He made two Pro Bowls in Jacksonville, and tallied 29 career sacks to go with eight forced fumbles. At 6-foot-7 and 335 pounds, Henderson was an absolute mammoth interior lineman.

Raiders released DT John Henderson and RG Cooper Carlisle.
Henderson was released with a failed physical designation. He missed the final three games of the 2011 season with a knee injury. Henderson ended up only starting five games in two years after originally signing with the Raiders in June 2010, but was still an elite run stuffer as a part-time player in 2011. He'll draw interest on the open market.

Raiders DT John Henderson (knee) did not finish the Raiders' Week 13 game against the Dolphins.
Henderson had a season-high seven tackles and a quarterback hit on Sunday, and with DT Richard Seymour potentially facing a suspension the D-Line could get thin. For a unit giving up the most yards per carry to opposing rushers in the league, things could get ugly quick with a few bad breaks.
