The Arizona Republic projects Yeremiah Bell and Rashad Johnson as the Cardinals' starters at safety.

Bell will presumably play free safety with Johnson at strong. Despite the fact that Arizona drafted Tyrann Mathieu early in the third round, they'll ease him in on special teams and as a potential slot cornerback in nickel packages. If Johnson keeps the strong safety job, he'll be the IDP to target in the group.

Cardinals agreed to terms with S Yeremiah Bell, formerly of the Jets.

Bell, 35, replaces recently released Kerry Rhodes. It's likely a one-year deal for Bell, who registered 89 tackles and two pass breakups with New York last season. Bell and Landry are expected to play stong- and free-hybrids since the Jets defense has no difference between the two positions. The rotation could end up working, as Landry (Achilles) is a major injury risk while Bell and Smith are stretched as full-time starters.

Bell has already been connected to several teams, including the Jets, Eagles and Patriots, but has yet to latch on. The 32-year-old Crocker has visited the Lions and Cardinals since being cut by the Bengals in early April. The Titans are looking for depth behind starters Jordan Babineaux and Michael Griffin.
