Tashaun Gipson DB CLE 4 Days

The Browns have placed Gipson (knee) on season-ending IR.

Gipson suffered an MCL injury against the Falcons roughly a month ago, and with the Browns not looking like good playoff bets, it doesn't make much sense to rush Gipson back from his injury. He's been a strong IDP both of the last two years, totaling 147 tackles and 11 interceptions (two touchdowns) in 27 games, so he'll be worth DB1 consideration in 2015.

Gipson reportedly suffered a grade 3 MCL injury Sunday against the Falcons, the Cleveland Plain Dealer reports.

While the report relays that Gipson avoided ACL damage, he could well be done for the regular season, though if the Browns elect to not place him on IR, a return for playoffs (should the team qualify) is plausible. Either way, it's a tough loss for the Browns, who will look to replace the NFL's interception leader (6) with fellow safety Jim Leonhard, with Jordan Poyer also a candidate to see added reps.

Gipson (concussion) is not practicing Wednesday, Scott Petrak of the Elyria Chronicle-Telegram reports.

While coach Mike Pettine noted that Gipson hasn't been ruled out for Sunday's game against the Texans, according to the Cleveland Plain-Dealer, the safety's concussion clouds his Week 11 status for the time being. Gipson currently leads the NFL with six interceptions, to go along with 42 tackles in nine games.
