The Chargers "hope" Brandon Taylor will be the team's starting strong safety for 2013 following Friday's release of Atari Bigby.
Taylor was the No. 73 overall pick in last year's draft, but he played in just four games as a rookie before tearing his ACL in late December. He spent most of his time as an in-the-box safety while at LSU. Taylor is questionable for training camp, though, due to his knee, and it could cost him a shot at winning the job.

Chargers agreed to terms with third-round SS Brandon Taylor on a four-year contract.
The Chargers wanted to trade up for Mark Barron on the draft's first day, but settled for a small move up the board to secure Taylor on day two.
