Bryce Brown RB BUF 1 Day

Brown is inactive for Sunday's game against the Raiders.

Brown is the odd man out in the Bills' Week 16 backfield, with C.J. Spiller in uniform for the team on Sunday.

Brown had three carries for 11 yards in Sunday's 26-10 win against Cleveland. He was not targeted a single time in the passing game.

Brown didn't get much work, with Fred Jackson and Boobie Dixon combining for 27 carries. He had been involved the last few games as a pass catcher, but Jackson is now healthy, so he took over that role again, catching 3-of-4 targets for 27 yards. It looks like Brown won't see a ton of work moving forward, unless Jackson or Dixon go down with an injury.

Brown rushed six times for 20 yards in Monday's win over the Jets. He was not targeted in the passing game.

Fred Jackson is back from a groin injury and was able to tote the mail 10 times Monday night. Brown will still work his way into the mix, but there's a big difference between sharing a full load with just one competitor (Anthony Dixon) vs. trying to get a few carries behind the No. 1 that Jackson is when he's healthy. As such, Brown is a high-risk play the rest of the way unless one of his teammates suffers an injury.

Brown caught 7-of-10 targets for 57 yards, with six carries for 14 yards in Thursday's 22-9 loss to the Dolphins.

With Fred Jackson (groin) inactive for a second time in the past three games, Brown got the start and a team-high 10 targets, while Anthony Dixon had 10 carries for 35 yards, with two catches for an additional 13 yards. Brown actually picked up decent yardage on a few of his carries, but he lost six yards on a 3rd-and-1, a situation that would normally call for Dixon. The Bills didn't run a single offensive play from inside the Miami five-yard line, so neither back got any goal-line carries. Brown now has 13 receptions over the last two games, and while his success may be a symptom of the Bills' inability to make big plays, he's still done a nice job as a receiver the last two weeks. Brown will likely have a role in the passing game even when Jackson's healthy, but the 23-year-old will be a less attractive option if the veteran can play in Week 12 against the Jets.

Brown is in line to start Thursday's game against the Dolphins, with Fred Jackson inactive.

Brown is slated to combo with Anthony Dixon on Thursday, with Brown thus meriting a Week 11 look, especially in PPR formats, after catching six passes for 65 yards this past Sunday against the Chiefs, to go along with his seven carries for 35 yards. That's a carry total Brown should exceed this week, given Jackson's absence and the resulting starting nod.

With Fred Jackson reportedly unlikely to play Thursday against the Dolphins, Brown could see an expanded role in the Bills' Week 11 backfield, ESPN.com reports.

In a scenario where Jackson is inactive, Brown would be in line to work in tandem with Anthony Dixon, with Brown representing an intriguing dart in PPR formats, after catching six passes for 65 yards this past Sunday against the Chiefs, while also carrying seven times for 35 yards in that contest.

Brown had seven carries for 35 rushing yards and caught six passes on seven targets for 65 receiving yards Sunday against the Dolphins, but he lost a costly fumble near the goal-line in the third quarter that went out of bounds for a safety.

Brown co-led the team in catches and led in receiving yards, but the fumble was an absolute killer in a game the Bills ended up losing by four. Anthony Dixon finished with nine carries for 62 yards, while Fred Jackson returned from his groin injury to total 49 yards on seven touches. If Jackson is able to get in a full practice next week, he will likely get a bigger workload in Week 11 against the Dolphins, a team that allowed 113 yards to the Bills back in Week 2, though 69 of them came from C.J. Spiller.

Brown's teammate, Fred Jackson, is active for Sunday's game against the Chiefs.

It remains to be seen how heavily Jackson is used in his return to action, but with Anthony Dixon also in the Bills' backfield mix, Brown is a speculative Week 10 lineup option.

Brown's teammate, Fred Jackson, is listed as questionable for Sunday's game against the Chiefs, wgr550.com reports.

Though Jackson practiced on a limited basis this week, coach Doug Marrone acknowledged "we're still not where we need to be, though, for him to go out there." Unless things look up for Jackson on the health front in the next couple of days, Anthony Dixon and Brown could be on track head the Bills' backfield for the second straight contest. In such a scenario, it's not hard to imagine Brown seeing more snaps than the 14 that he recorded while working behind Dixon in his season debut, back in Week 8.

Brown only saw action on 14 offensive snaps (25 percent) in Sunday's win over the Jets, according to WGR550.com.

Meanwhile, Anthony Dixon played 75 percent of the offensive snaps, so as expected it's Dixon who's remained higher in the pecking order. Neither back did much at all with their carries, with Brown posting a 7/15/0 line and Dixon putting up a 22/44/0 line. Brown was given three targets to Dixon's zero, but didn't haul in any of them. With a bye in Week 9 and Fred Jackson's return expected sometime in November - and perhaps the early part - Brown's window of fantasy opportunity may not be all that vast. That said, with C.J. Spiller on returnable IR, Brown should at least be active the rest of the way, and maybe he'll at least have a few chances to show he can be the guy who gets the team's sagging running game going again.
