Randle signed a contract Tuesday with the Canadian Football League's Winnipeg Blue Bombers.

After amassing 188 receptions for 2,644 yards and 20 touchdowns in his first four seasons in the NFL with the Giants, it looked as though Randle might enjoy a steady career in the league as a secondary receiver. However, any cachet Randle might have held around the NFL seems to have dissipated since he left New York, as the 27-year-old was an early cut in training camp by the Eagles in 2016 and spent a few weeks on injured reserve for the Bears last season before being cut loose in mid-September. It doesn't seem like the hamstring Randle dealt with last fall is a concern at this point, but with the wideout now two years removed from his last regular-season action, he unsurprisingly didn't have much of a market around the league this offseason. As a result, Randle will explore his opportunities north of the border, likely with the hope of sparking renewed interest from NFL teams if he performs well with Winnipeg.

The Bears released Randle (hamstring) on Tuesday as part of an injury settlement, Brad Biggs of the Chicago Tribune reports.

Randle landed on injured reserve after suffering a hamstring injury during training camp, but had health permitted, the wideout likely wouldn't have earned a spot on the Bears' 53-man roster. Since the injury wasn't anything that was expected to sideline Randle for the bulk of the season, the Bears elected to let him become a free agent, allowing him to sign with any team once he's back to full strength.

Randle was placed on IR Sunday, Field Yates of ESPN reports.

Randle was placed on IR to make room on the roster for recently signed kicker Roberto Aguayo. The veteran receiver was stuck behind a plethora of wideouts. The move hints that Randle may have even less fantasy value that previously anticipated and will likely struggle to make it onto the field this season.

Randle caught both of his targets for 18 yards Thursday against the Broncos.

EDGE Analysis

Randle played with the third-string offense, but showed some chemistry with Mitch Trubisky, as the quarterback connected with him on a pair of roll outs. He just missed scoring on his second catch, as he caught a slant inside the five-yard line before being stopped inches from the goal line. He's still far from a lock to make the final roster, but at least he's had a positive start to the preseason.

Randle was signed to a reserve/futures contract with the Bears, according to the team's website.

EDGE Analysis

After playing four seasons with the Giants, Randle signed with the Eagles before the 2016 campaign, but was cut before the regular season. Although he posted 17 touchdowns and 2,347 yards over his final three seasons in New York, it was telling that he was unable to earn a roster spot on a team that desperately needed wide receiver help. However, this is a very low-risk move for the Bears, and he should be given a chance to compete for a roster spot in 2017, but after not playing during the 2016 season, he'll be facing tough odds to make the regular season roster.

The team also parted way with Chris Givens on Sunday, which bodes well for Paul Turner's chances of making the Eagles' 53-man roster as a depth option behind Jordan Matthews, Nelson Agholor, Josh Huff and Dorial Green-Beckham.

Randle did not start Thursday's preseason game against the Steelers, Martin Frank of the Delaware News Journal reports.

In the absence of Jordan Matthews (knee), Philly started Nelson Agholor, Josh Huff and Chris Givens at wideout, though Randle and rookie UDFA Paul Turner also got plenty of chances to mix in while starting quarterback Sam Bradford was still in the game. Randle managed just two catches for 10 yards on two targets, after catching one ball for three yards on three targets in the preseason opener. Once viewed as a strong candidate for the No. 3 wideout role, Randle likely now finds himself on the roster bubble, with his chances taking a further hit due to Philly's recent acquisition of Dorial Green-Beckham.

Jordan Matthews and Nelson Agholor are the top two wideouts, with Randle, Chris Givens and Josh Huff vying for the No. 3 and 4 roles. While he does appear to have the early edge, Randle will still need to impress throughout the rest of training camp and the preseason in order to fend off the competition.

Randle (gallbladder) returned to the field for Tuesday's mandatory minicamp after missing the final two weeks of OTAs, PennLive.com reports.

Randle had his gallbladder removed May 23, but he was back on the practice field 15 days later and shouldn't be affected. Head coach Doug Pederson said Randle will compete for a starting job on the outside, with other candidates including Nelson Agholor, Josh Huff and Chris Givens. Despite having to settle for a one-year, $1.025 million contract in March, the 25-year-old Randle has every opportunity to earn a significant role.
