The Panthers have opted to go with sixth-round pick Brad Nortman at punter. An 11-year veteran, Harris could resurface as a mid-season replacement. A teammate of Cam Newton's at Auburn, Adams appeared in two games last season. He could be a candidate for the practice squad.

The Lions punter since 2003, Harris was beat out by undrafted rookie Ryan Donahue. Although Harris was set to make $1.4 million this season, the Detroit Free Press reports the decision was based on performance, not salary. Harris should get a call once someone's punter goes down this season.
