Ryan Pickett DL GB 14 Days
The Packers aren't expected to re-sign free agent NT Ryan Pickett.
Pickett is 34 years old and doesn't profile as the type of player the Packers typically invest money in. Green Bay wants to clear some room on the defensive line in order to get younger, faster, more athletic players like Datone Jones more snaps. Pickett is merely a run plugger and will likely have to settle for a one-year deal.

Packers NT Ryan Pickett says the team hasn't talked with him about the possibility of re-signing with the team.
"No, nobody has said anything," said Pickett. "I've got two more games to show 'em." Pickett has started all 14 games this season but has registered just 16 tackles on 440 defensive snaps. That's quite the drop-off from 2012 when he racked up 51 tackles on similar playing time. Pickett is 34 years old. He wants to re-sign with the Packers, but the team tends to shy away from older players.

Packers DL coach Mike Trgovac expects the team to retain LE Ryan Pickett for the 2013 season.
Pickett, 33, brings essentially nothing to the table as a pass rusher, but he is a run-stuffing power pig at left end and nose tackle. "I think Ryan has some more football left in him. I really do," Trgovac said. "I think he definitely has another good year left in him." Pickett is owed $6.1 million in 2013.

Packers DE Ryan Pickett (foot sprain) says he expects to play in Sunday's game against the Bears.
Pickett left last week's win over the Panthers in the second half and did not return. "My foot just started hurting," he said. "I didn't know what it was. I don't think it's anything serious." Pickett's presence will plug up the middle for Matt Forte.
