Jeron Johnson DB SEA 5 Months

Seahawks S Jeron Johnson has agreed to restructure his contract.

Johnson was slapped with a second-round tender as a restricted free agent last month. He quickly signed the deal and would have been set up to earn a $2.187 million salary. Johnson's new deal can earn him "up to" $2 million on a one-year pact. He doesn't play much defense but is a special teams stalwart.

Seahawks re-signed S Jeron Johnson to a one-year contract.

The 25-year-old former Boise State star was reported to have been tendered at the second-round level. If he signed that tender, Johnson will be owed $1.431 million. Johnson is used sparingly on defense, but contributed three special teams tackles last season. The Seahawks apparently believe he has potential to contribute in the secondary, based on his relatively pricey tender cost.

Seahawks extended a second-round tender to restricted free agent S Jeron Johnson.

The second-round tender is worth $2.187 million, and means Seattle would receive a second-round pick if it declined to match an offer sheet. Johnson was a special teamer in 2013, playing only 29 snaps on defense. The second-round tender ensures he'll be back in Seattle.
