Dolphins nickel CB Jimmy Wilson left Thursday night's game against the Bills with an upper body injury.

Wilson came around the edge on a corner blitz and banged his neck/head area on Bills LT Cordy Glenn's knee. R.J. Stanford would be left as the lone back-up to starters Sean Smith and Nolan Carroll.

Dolphins CB Jimmy Wilson has been moved to safety.

A hard-hitting corner out of Montana, Wilson saw reps at safety last training camp. New defensive boss Kevin Coyle has the 2011 seventh-rounder working with the second team, behind Reshad Jones and Chris Clemons.

According to head coach Tony Sparano, DB Jimmy Wilson will play at cornerback on defense.

The Dolphins tried to give the seventh-round college cornerback reps at safety, but it looks like the experiment was a failure. Look for Wilson to be an impact player on special teams for his rookie season.

According to the Palm Beach Post, seventh-round DB Jimmy Wilson has already "all but won" a roster spot this summer.

Known as a hard-hitter at the University of Montana, Wilson could make an impact on special teams this season if he indeed makes the team. If he eventually earns playing time on defense, the Dolphins have projected him as a safety after he played cornerback in college.
