Smith (groin) is probable for Sunday's game against Kansas City.

Smith is ready to return to the lineup, though he might lose some snaps to rookie Kevin Pierre-Louis. He's probably a risky IDP consideration in his first game back, though he has shown the ability to pile up tackles when he gets the snaps.

Smith (groin) is inactive for Sunday's game against the Giants.

Smith will take another week to rest the injury, but a return next Sunday at Kansas City seems like a reasonable possibility.

Smith will likely miss another week, according to coach Pete Carroll, the Seattle Times' Bob Condotta reports.

Smith, who did not play Sunday against the Raiders, will continue to be evaluated throughout the week, but it appears he's doubtful to take the field against the Giants on Sunday. Smith has 27 tackles and two forced fumbles in seven games this season.

Smith (non-injury) is out for Sunday's game against Oakland.

Smith's absence is a disruptive one for the Seahawks, as he was already stepping in as a replacement for Bobby Wagner (toe) in one of Seattle's three-down linebacker roles. Bruce Irvin seems to be the next man in line, but any one of a handful of Seattle backups could get auditions in Smith's place Sunday, too.

Smith (groin) has returned to Sunday's game versus the Panthers, The Associated Press reports.

Smith left during the first-half of Sunday's game due to a groin injury, but was able to return following half-time. At the moment, he leads the Seahawks with eight tackles (four solo) on the day.

Smith sustained a groin injury during Sunday's game against the Panthers and is considered questionable to return.

Smith led the Seahawks with seven tackles (four solo) prior to exiting Sunday's contest. With Bobby Wagner (toe) out, if Smith is unable to return, Seattle would be without two stellar playmakers on defense.

The Super Bowl MVP had some "loose bodies" removed. It appears he'll be ready for training camp. Despite his big-game heroics, Smith enters 2014 as a reserve.

Seahawks LB Malcolm Smith does not have a defined role heading into this season.

Don't get fooled by Smith's fluky Super Bowl MVP award. He was a fill-in for most of last season, subbing for Bruce Irvin during a PED suspension and then for Bobby Wagner/K.J. Wright during injuries. Smith's best path to playing time is in packages that feature Irvin as a defensive end, thus getting four linebackers on the field.

Seahawks LB Malcolm Smith was named the MVP of Super Bowl 48.

The Super Bowl MVP decider(s) must be avid box-score scouts, because Smith filled up the stat sheet but was significantly less deserving that SS Kam Chancellor, RE Cliff Avril, WR/KR Percy Harvin, and QB Russell Wilson, just to name a few. Smith gets the nod due to a 69-yard pick six that was caused by pressure on Peyton Manning, and a fumble recovery where he just happened to be near the play. Smith finished with nine tackles. We would've gone with Harvin or Chancellor.
