49ers GM Trent Baalke says free agent FB Owen Marecic isn't interested in playing in the NFL.
After losing FB Bruce Miller (shoulder) to injured reserve last week, the 49ers approached Marecic. The 25-year-old declined their offer and seems content with life away from the gridiron. The 49ers signed DL/FB Will Tukuafu.

Browns waived FB wen Marecic, LB Kendrick Adams, OG Dominic Alford, WR Dominique Croom, DL Nicolas Jean-Baptiste, OG Ryan Miller and TE Travis Tannahill.
One of ex-football "czar" Mike Holmgren's numerous failed draft picks, Marecic was made expendable by Chris Ogbonnaya's emergence at fullback. Miller was a 2012 fifth-rounder.

ESPN Cleveland reports the Browns are prepared to move on from FB Owen Marecic if he fails to impress in training camp.
Marecic's roster spot is in jeopardy for the second straight offseason. He appeared in 10 games in 2012, but has struggled as a lead blocker and could be replaced by Brad Smelley or Kellen Davis. The Browns are also considering moving Chris Ogbonnaya to fullback.

Browns FB Owen Marecic's roster spot appears to be in jeopardy for the second straight season.
Marecic appeared in ten games in 2012, but he lost his starting gig and will be "hard-pressed to get it back," according to the Cleveland Plain Dealer. Marecic was a 2010 fourth-round pick out of Stanford, and the Browns could turn back to the draft for fullback help. They also have H-back Brad Smelley on the roster.

Browns FB Owen Marecic's roster spot could be in jeopardy following the team's selection of Brad Smelley in April's draft.
Marecic is more of a lead blocker, whereas Smelley is a smaller pass-catcher. With Trent Richardson in the fold, the team will want to keep a strong lead blocker in town, but they could unload the incumbent Marecic if Smelley shows he's a capable battering ram. Although it's unlikely, Marecic could be converted to linebacker, a position he played at Stanford.

Via their 2011 trade down with the Falcons, the Browns ultimately picked up FB Owen Marecic, QB Brandon Weeden, WR Greg Little, and NT Phil Taylor.
The 118th pick in the 2012 draft was also acquired from Atlanta, though the Browns used it in their one-spot trade up for Trent Richardson. While the jury is still out on all the players acquired, at first glance it appears to be quite a haul. Jones is going to be the best player in the deal of course, but the trade may work out well for both sides. The Browns are building a roster.
