Browns FB Owen Marecic's roster spot appears to be in jeopardy for the second straight season.

Marecic appeared in ten games in 2012, but he lost his starting gig and will be "hard-pressed to get it back," according to the Cleveland Plain Dealer. Marecic was a 2010 fourth-round pick out of Stanford, and the Browns could turn back to the draft for fullback help. They also have H-back Brad Smelley on the roster.

Browns FB Owen Marecic's roster spot could be in jeopardy following the team's selection of Brad Smelley in April's draft.

Marecic is more of a lead blocker, whereas Smelley is a smaller pass-catcher. With Trent Richardson in the fold, the team will want to keep a strong lead blocker in town, but they could unload the incumbent Marecic if Smelley shows he's a capable battering ram. Although it's unlikely, Marecic could be converted to linebacker, a position he played at Stanford.

Via their 2011 trade down with the Falcons, the Browns ultimately picked up FB Owen Marecic, QB Brandon Weeden, WR Greg Little, and NT Phil Taylor.

The 118th pick in the 2012 draft was also acquired from Atlanta, though the Browns used it in their one-spot trade up for Trent Richardson. While the jury is still out on all the players acquired, at first glance it appears to be quite a haul. Jones is going to be the best player in the deal of course, but the trade may work out well for both sides. The Browns are building a roster.

Browns FB Owen Marecic was forced from Thursday's game with a head injury.

Like Ben Watson, this would be Marecic's second of the season if it turns out to be a concussion. The rookie out of Stanford was also forced out of the Week 11 game with a concussion.

Browns rookie FB Owen Marecic suffered a concussion in the team's Week 11 win and did not return.

He'll need to pass the NFL's protocol concussion testing in order to be cleared for Week 12. Marecic, a fourth-round pick out of Stanford, has nine touches on offense this season. He's been a lead blocker and special teamer.
