Carson Palmer QB ARI 7 Days

Palmer (shoulder) completed 28-of-44 passes for 250 yards with two touchdowns in Sunday's 30-20 win over Washington.

Palmer didn't take too many shots down the field, but he was smooth in general, getting rid of the ball quickly. He hooked up with Larry Fitzgerald and Michael Floyd on touchdowns, as both players scored for the first time this season. Assuming Palmer didn't suffer some sort of setback, he should be good to go next week against a beatable Raiders secondary.

Palmer (shoulder) was named the starting quarterback for Sunday's game versus Washington, Darren Urban of the Cardinals' official site reports.

A week of suspense has ended with Palmer earning the nod, even after failing to practice fully, or coach Bruce Arians' one requirement to start. Alas, he'll face a Washington defense that has surrendered 11 touchdowns through the air this season, good for fourth-most in the league.

Palmer appears poised to start Sunday against Washington after taking snaps with starting center Lyle Sendlein during warmups, Kent Somers of the Arizona Republic reports.

As he take more snaps, Palmer increased the velocity on his throws, even putting extra juice on 15-yard outs. Darren Urban of the Cardinals' official site seconded Somers' views, as Palmer worked with the first-team offense. Barring a late development, Palmer is seemingly making his first appearance since Week 1, when he initially suffered the nerve issue in his throwing shoulder that held him out more than a month.

Palmer (shoulder) is listed as active Sunday against Washington, the Cardinals' official site reports.

During the Cardinals' Week 4 bye, Palmer experienced regression with the nerve concern in his throwing shoulder. As of Friday, he was merely throwing lobs at 80 percent capacity, but yet another visit in the meantime with Peyton Manning's specialist in Denver has spurred a miraculous recovery. While the Cardinals have yet to name a starter with all three quarterbacks active, Palmer could soon make his first appearance since Week 1 against a Washington defense that has allowed the fourth-most passing touchdowns (11) to opposing signal callers this season.

Despite various reports that Palmer (shoulder) is in line to start Sunday's game against Washington, FOX Sports' Jay Glazer says Cardinals coach Bruce Arians still needs to see Palmer look good in warmups before committing to him as the starter.

Because Palmer's shoulder still isn't all the way back, the Cardinals want to make sure he has the requisite velocity and accuracy before they make their decision. However, even if Palmer does play, a televised ESPN report indicated that the team may occasionally use Logan Thomas off the bench in certain situations. Arizona and Washington kick off in the second wave of kickoffs at 4:25 ET.

Palmer (shoulder) is in line to start Sunday's game against Washington, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reports.

Assuming that's the case, it remains to be seen how close to full strength Palmer might be in his first game back after dealing with a nerve issue in his throwing shoulder, but barring any late setbacks, it appears as though the veteran QB is on track to attempt to give it a go on Sunday. With that in mind, Mike Jurecki of Fox Sports 910 relays that the Cardinals plan to work out Palmer a few hours before Sunday's 4:25 ET kickoff.

While head coach Bruce Arians is not expected to make a decision until close to kickoff, Palmer (shoulder) appears to be the most likely choice to start Sunday against Washington, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter.

Arians noted that Palmer was around 80 percent healthy Friday, which apparently wasn't enough to name him the starter. However, the expected improvement over the last two days could be what gets Palmer back on the field ahead of Drew Stanton, who recently recovered from a concussion, and rookie Logan Thomas, who struggled greatly in relief of Stanton last Sunday against the Broncos. At the very least, Stanton is expected to be active, so the question will come down to whether Palmer can bypass him in warmups ahead of the 4:25 ET kickoff.

Palmer (shoulder) is questionable for Sunday's game against Washington, and coach Bruce Arians doesn't know whether Palmer, Drew Stanton (concussion) or Logan Thomas will start.

Arians estimated that Palmer's shoulder was around 80 percent healthy Friday, and that number would presumably need to increase by Sunday in order for Palmer to start. He threw passes Friday, but the throws were mere lob passes rather than true football throws. Stanton, meanwhile, still needs to obtain concussion clearance in order to play. If neither Palmer nor Stanton can play, rookie fourth-round pick Logan Thomas would be expected to start.

Palmer (shoulder) remained limited in Thursday's practice, the Cardinals' official site reports.

Palmer was able to throw for a third consecutive day, but to what extent remains unknown. In the meantime, the clock is ticking for the veteran signal caller, who must fulfill a full practice Friday in order to play Sunday against Washington. No matter his activity level Friday, he intends to return to Denver for additional treatment on his throwing shoulder from Peyton Manning's doctor. On the quarterback front in Arizona, Drew Stanton is scheduled for a concussion test Friday, which could clear the morass at the position. If the statuses of both Palmer and Stanton remain in flux entering the weekend, rookie Logan Thomas exists as the sole healthy option at QB.

Palmer (shoulder) was limited in Wednesday's practice, Kent Somers of the Arizona Republic reports.

The baseline for this week is 35-40 percent of Palmer's normal velocity, which he achieved Tuesday. He's expected to increase that value on a daily basis, with the hope of practicing fully Thursday. However, coach Bruce Arians has made it clear: Palmer must be unhindered in drills one time this week in order to play Sunday against Washington. Despite having two additional chances to do so, Palmer intends to return to Denver on Friday in order to receive further treatment from Peyton Manning's specialist. Palmer aside, the Cardinals' quarterback picture is in flux, as Drew Stanton remains in the league's concussion protocol. If both fail to receive clearance in Week 6, greenhorn Logan Thomas is the only healthy option at the moment, though Dennis Dixon was signed to the practice squad early in the week as an emergency option.
