Chargers WR Vincent Brown (ankle, injured reserve designated for return) is unlikely to play this season.

When asked if he'd play this season, Brown admitted "most likely not." The second-year wideout returned to the field for workouts last month, but officially has yet to begin practicing. Brown's rehab process has been going smoothly, but he said he'd most likely be "chilling" on the sidelines for the season's final four games. Brown should push for No. 3 receiver duties in 2013 behind Malcom Floyd and Danario Alexander, who will be a restricted free agent. Robert Meachem could continue to slide down the depth chart.

Chargers WR Vincent Brown (ankle) "ran sprints, cornered around cones, shuffled and did rapid stop-and-starts."

Brown still hasn't resumed practicing with the team and remains on injured reserve with a designation to return. But based on his work Wednesday, he could be back in the mix shortly. The 2011 third-round pick would slot in behind clear starters Malcom Floyd and Danario Alexander if he gets active for the final few games.

Chargers WR Vincent Brown (ankle) said he's "definitely" targeting a return to practice this month but said he's "not sure" if he'll be able to.

Brown's rehab is taking longer than the Chargers had hoped when they put the "designated for return" injury tag on him. He still hasn't worked out with the team since breaking his ankle in the second preseason game. The Bolts can no longer count on a real impact this season.

So, no one wants to hear the "I told you so" that goes along with Darren McFadden getting injured. You had to know that it was looming. That question was if he would make it through the year. The injury is a dreaded high ankle sprain, and while the X-rays were negative, you get a sense that he will stay on the shelf this week. The Oakland Raiders would prefer to have him healthier next week against New Orleans. The Saints have been gashed on the ground, and to have him sit this week makes sense from a precautionary standpoint. Mike Goodson is also hobbled, which points to Taiwan Jones. Is Jones ready to play? I personally think fullback Marcel Reece has more value. Regardless of who starts, take a look at Reece, especially in points-per-reception leagues.

Don't get too excited about Chris Johnson's numbers the last three weeks. You should have the good sense to know that it's time to trade him. I just can't do it in my dynasty league as I'll never quite get what I want for him. Miami is on tap this week, and I'll continue to start him because I'm committed. Temper your expectation because Miami has been fairly tough to run against. He still possesses game-changing speed; there's no arguing that. The offense simply plays too many games from behind for them to put up enough for you to be excited about running backs on this roster.

Danario Alexander was a good add for the San Diego Chargers since Robert Meachem hasn't lived up to billing, Eddie Royal has been injured mostly and Vincent Brown isn't quite ready to resume just yet. I don't believe that he has as much value as Malcom Floyd or Antonio Gates. The signs point to him being involved catching three balls in the first week without much practice. He may be worth a look in deeper leagues, but take a wait-and-see approach.

Chris "Beanie" Wells may be available in your league. Do yourself a favor and check. The knee-jerk reaction was to drop him when he was injured. He will be back and insists that the knee and turf toe have healed sufficiently. Wells runs with authority and needs to get carries to get momentum. He should be ready Week 11 to return against St. Louis. The Week 13 game against the New York Jets has me salivating. If you have the room, make the move now. It's great to have options like this. I realize that in deep leagues that he sits on a bench some place. You can start looking for a possible trade if your league allows.

Vincent Brown (broken ankle, I.R./designated for return) is still unable to run and is not expected back in the near future.

Brown fractured his left ankle in mid-August and no longer appears to be recovering on schedule. There were initially hopes he'd return by Week 9. That's obviously not going to happen, and a Week 11 or 12 return now looks more realistic. "I don't expect him back real soon," coach Norv Turner said Monday.

Vincent Brown (broken ankle) could be out for another month.

Brown broke his ankle in the preseason and was then placed on the injured reserve as the team's "designated for return" player. The second-year wideout is eligible to play this week against Cleveland, but that's not going to happen since he has yet to practice. "[Brown] is continuing through his rehab and I think he is making good progress," coach Norv Turner said. "He is in the middle of rehab. So, what he is able to do, we will find out probably in the next month." Brown will likely challenge Robert Meachem for playing time once he returns.

Coach Norv Turner said WR Vincent Brown (ankle) is not ready to practice yet.

Brown is eligible to start practicing this week, but the Chargers will ease him back in. "He's got to be healthy," Turner said. The earliest Brown will play is Week 9 against the Chiefs. If healthy, Brown should be able to push Robert Meachem for snaps. The ex-Saint is averaging just 2.0 catches for 31.5 yards per game as a Charger.
