49ers signed exclusive rights free agent DE Will Tukuafu to a two-year contract extension.

After spending the majority of the 2010 season on the practice squad, Tukuafu appeared in five games last season before suffering a season-ending wrist injury. The Niners are high on his motor and work ethic as a reserve/special teamer.

49ers placed DE Will Tukuafu on injured reserve, ending his season.

The extent of the injury is unknown, but this is the roster deletion needed to create room for S Colin Jones. A former undrafted free agent out of Oregon, Tukuafu played 17 snaps in the first three games before being inactive for Week 4. Rookies Demarcus Dobbs and Ian Williams could move up the depth chart.
