Redskins signed ILB Darryl Sharpton, formerly of the Texans, to a one-year contract.

According to Profootballtalk, the deal is worth "up to" $2 million. Sharpton made 13 starts in Brian Cushing's absence the past two seasons, but wasn't effective at anything other than plugging the run. He's a replacement-level 'backer, and nothing more than a depth signing for a Redskins team trying to find bargains.

Texans ILB Darryl Sharpton has been diagnosed with a concussion.

Sharpton suffered the injury two weeks ago, but the Texans are just now disclosing it. Sharpton still has time to get cleared for Monday night's opener, but his injury track record is poor. Sharpton has missed 21 of a possible 48 games since being the No. 102 pick of the 2010 draft. Tim Dobbins and Joe Mays should pick up the slack if Sharpton can't go against San Diego.

Texans ILB Darryl Sharpton (hip/groin) has sustained a setback.

The Texans' medical staff can't seem to get a handle on this injury, which has plagued Sharpton since last season. He received an injection on Sunday and was said to be feeling better. "It's a disappointment for Darryl and for us, but we've got to give him every chance to get back on the field," coach Gary Kubiak said. "He had a great offseason." Sharpton has appeared in just 27 of a possible 48 games during his three-year NFL career.

Texans ILB Darryl Sharpton (hip) participated in OTAs on Monday in a limited fashion.

"Sharpton's good," coach Gary Kubiak said. "We're kind of going to be a little protective with him, keep him out of some special teams drills and stuff, but he's back to work." Sharpton will contend with Tim Dobbins and possibly Brooks Reed for the starting inside 'backer job next to Brian Cushing.

DC Wade Phillips says ILB Darryl Sharpton is still not recovered from his late-season hip injury.

"Darryl's not healthy enough right now to do our offseason stuff," Phillips said. "He's still not been cleared by the doctors from his injury at the end of the season." This contradicts earlier comments from Sharpton himself, who declared himself 100 percent healed. We'll find out for sure when the Texans begin OTAs on Monday.
