Marc Mariani WR CHI 7 Days

Mariani signed a two-year deal with the Bears on Tuesday.

Mariani will provide the team with assistance in the return game, but he is unlikely to be a major part of the offensive game plan out of the gate. The 27-year-old caught five passes with the Titans back in 2011, and has three career return touchdowns. The Bears waived safety Ahmad Dixon in a corresponding move.

The Titans have released Mariani, the Tennessean reports.

Injuries hampered Mariani the past couple of seasons, but he is a candidate to catch on elsewhere as a depth wideout/returner.

Free agent WR/KR Marc Mariani worked out for the Chargers on Monday.

Mariani has missed the last two seasons with a gruesome broken leg in 2012 and shoulder injury last summer. Before that, he was an electric return man who has three career return touchdowns. Mariani would add speed the Bolts desire.

Titans placed WR Marc Mariani (shoulder) on injured reserve, ending his season.

Darius Reynaud will be Tennessee's return specialist again this year. Mariani suffered a compound leg fracture in 2012, made it back, and then separated his shoulder early in training camp. He'll be a free agent in 2014.

Titans KR Marc Mariani (shoulder) is not expected to be ready for the season opener.

Mariani missed the entire preseason with a bruised AC joint and coach Mike Munchak wouldn't commit to him making the 53-man roster. Darius Reynaud will likely replace him as the Titans' return specialist.

Titans KR Marc Mariani is week-to-week with a shoulder injury.

Mariani suffered a bruised AC joint Friday and will now miss at least one preseason game. The missed playing time could put his roster spot in jeopardy, as Darius Reynaud could overtake him as the Titans' return specialist.

The Nashville Tennessean believes it will be a "challenge" for Marc Mariani to unseat Darius Reynaud as the Titans' return specialist.

Mariani suffered a compound leg fracture last preseason, and it left some wondering if the 2010 Pro Bowler's career was over. He's now nearing 100 percent, while coming off an "amazing" spring. Reynaud returned two punts and one kickoff to the house last season, and he was re-signed to a one-year deal.

Coach Mike Munchak said KR/WR Marc Mariani (leg) has been "amazing" through spring workouts.

Titans KR/WR Marc Mariani (compound leg fracture) is "feeling good and feeling healthy," and expects to be ready for training camp.

Mariani's brutal leg break last preseason was the same injury suffered by Louisville's Kevin Ware in the Elite Eight. Mariani is just three years removed from a Pro Bowl campaign as a returner, but won't be guaranteed a roster spot after the Titans signed Kevin Walter and re-upped Darius Reynaud.
