Mike Kafka QB TB 6 Months
Buccaneers signed QB Mike Kafka, formerly of the Jaguars.
Kafka, 26, was a fourth-round stab by Andy Reid's Eagles in the 2010 draft. He's appeared in four career games as a backup, completing 11-of-16 throws for 107 yards and two interceptions. Simply lacking NFL-caliber passing tools, Kafka will likely serve as a "camp arm" before being waived prior to the season.

Free agent QB Mike Kafka is likely to sign with the Cowboys on Friday.
With Tony Romo rehabbing, Kafka will serve as a warm body to get the Boys through their offseason program. He is unlikely to make the 53-man roster.

Free agent QB Mike Kafka worked out for the Cowboys on Thursday.
It's the first we've heard of the former fourth-rounder since he was waived by the Jaguars in August. The Cowboys are set at their top two quarterback spots, while a No. 3 is typically a developmental prospect. Kafka has long since tapped out as a prospect. Even if Kafka earns a contract, he won't crack the 53-man roster. The Cowboys might simply be looking for an extra body while Tony Romo rehabs from back surgery.

Jaguars waived QB Mike Kafka.
Kafka was claimed off waivers from the Patriots in June, but as usual, was done in by his weak arm. It's an indication UDFA Matt Scott has earned No. 3 duties, but perhaps the Jags are ready to go with only two quarterbacks. The next NFL touchdown Kafka throws will be his first.

Jaguars GM Dave Caldwell said Mike Kafka has "just as good an opportunity" to earn the starting job as Chad Henne, Blaine Gabbert, and Matt Scott.
We'll chalk this up as GM speak. Kafka is a bottom-of-the-roster talent, and he simply doesn't have an NFL arm. Kafka was claimed off waivers from the Patriots on Tuesday. Caldwell said he considered signing the soon-to-be 26-year-old earlier in the offseason, but he had already committed to New England.

Jaguars claimed QB Mike Kafka off waivers from the Patriots.
The pipeline of former Patriots to Northern Florida continues unabated. If not for the Raiders, the Jaguars would have the worst quarterback situation in the league, but Kafka still isn't a realistic candidate to crack the 53-man roster. He simply doesn't have the arm strength.

Patriots waived QB Mike Kafka and DT DeWayne Cherrington.
25-year-old Kafka can tell his kids he was the man waived to clear offseason roster room for the Patriots' signing of Tim Tebow. Kafka reportedly showed weak arm strength in OTAs and was never a realistic candidate for the 53.

Patriots signed QB Mike Kafka and DE Marcus Benard to a reserve/future contracts.
Kafka, 25, is a West Coast-style quarterback with a weak arm but smarts and solid accuracy. He'll head into the offseason hoping to secure the Patriots' No. 3 quarterback job, although New England often doesn't keep three signal callers on its 53-man roster. Benard led the Browns in sacks (7.5) in 2010, but has been a non-factor since. He can play both linebacker and end.

Patriots worked out free agent QB Mike Kafka on Tuesday.
The Pats are in the market for a third quarterback after releasing Brian Hoyer. Kafka is better suited to a No. 3 role after flunking out as Michael Vick's backup. The 2010 fourth-rounder does have practice squad eligibility.

Although several teams were reportedly interested in former Eagles QB Mike Kafka after his Friday release, he passed through waivers unclaimed.
It now seems clear that Kafka's agent was the source for the report that the Chiefs, Patriots, Packers, and Browns all had interest in the 2010 fourth-round pick. Kafka, like Brian Hoyer, figures to latch on with a team as a backup before or just after the season starts. They're both unrestricted free agents.
