Dwyer has plead guilty to a misdemeanor disorderly conduct charge, Aaron Wilson of the Baltimore Sun reports. Dwyer will be sentenced to 18 months of probation, as well as community service. The 25-year-old back was placed on the reserve/non-football injury list back in September amidst allegations of aggravated assault, but he'll effectively plea to a lesser charge. It sounds like Dwyer will avoid jail time, but his future in the NFL remains unclear.

Dwyer has been placed on the reserve/non-football illness list by the Cardinals, the team's official site reports. The Cardinals had previously deactivated Dwyer on Wednesday following his arrest on suspicion of aggravated assault for incidents that took place in July. Following Thursday's move, the running back remains out indefinitely.

The Cardinals have deactivated Dwyer following his reported arrest on two counts of suspicion of aggravated assault, ESPN.com reports. "We became aware of these allegations this afternoon when notified by Phoenix police and are cooperating fully," the Cardinals indicated in a statement released Wednesday. "Given the serious nature of the allegations we have taken the immediate step to deactivate Jonathan from all team activities."

Dwyer had nine carries for 31 yards and a touchdown Sunday against the Giants. Dwyer's score came on a one-yard run in the first quarter, but any thought that he would dominate touches with Andre Ellington battling a foot injury quickly ended, as the latter finished with 15 carries for 91 yards, plus one catch for 10 receiving yards. Ellington's ailment is likely to hamper him for a few more weeks, but he has now played through it in back-to-back games, leaving Dwyer to backup duty. Up next for the Cardinals is a matchup against a tough 49ers defense, which isn't exactly ideal for a running back that gets limited touches per game.

Dwyer played 24-of-70 offensive snaps during Monday's win versus the Chargers, FOX Sports 910 Phoenix reports. Dwyer played second fiddle to Andre Ellington, who fended off the muscle injury in his left foot to start and garner 36 snaps. Meanwhile, acting as Ellington's complement, Dwyer took seven carries for 20 yards and two receptions (on three targets) for eight yards. Despite receiving far fewer looks (six in all), Stepfan Taylor nearly matched Dwyer's output, with one run for five yards and three catches for 20 yards, yet Taylor added a five-yard touchdown reception to his line. Dwyer's touches are contingent upon Ellington's health, which remains in question entering Sunday's outing against the Giants in New York, as Ellington is donning a walking boot with hopes of taking the practice field this week.

Working as a complement to Andre Ellington, Dwyer had seven carries for 20 yards and three catches for 21 yards and a score. Overall not an especially efficient day for Dwyer, and while the receiving touchdown salvaged his day, it could easily be the only one he gets this season. Stepfan Taylor had one carry for five yards and three catches of his own and will likely compete with Dwyer for market share in the backfield.

In the event that Andre Ellington's foot injury causes him to miss time, Dwyer would likely start at running back for the Cardinals, the Arizona Republic reports. While NFL Network's Ian Rapoport suggests that there is still a chance that Ellington could play in Monday's season opener against the Chargers, such a favorable outcome is far from a lock, per the Arizona Republic report. Dwyer thus merits a speculative grab, especially by those who roster Ellington. Meanwhile, Stepfan Taylor is listed third on the Cards' current RB depth chart.

Dwyer is listed as the Cardinals' No. 2 running back in advance of Monday's opener against the Chargers, Darren Urban of the team's official site reports. Other than a goal-line plunge for a touchdown during the second preseason game, Dwyer didn't outshine Stepfan Taylor, and vice versa. Overall, Dwyer took 14 carries for 24 yards (1.7 YPC), while Taylor was handed 22 totes for 43 yards (2.0) and caught one ball for 11 yards. Perhaps coach Bruce Arians prefers Dwyer's size (5-11, 229) when a tough yard or three is required. In any case, Dwyer is slated to give Andre Ellington a rest whenever one is required in Week 1 and beyond.

Dwyer received 21 snaps to Stepfan Taylor's nine during Sunday's preseason defeat to the Bengals, FOX Sports 910 Phoenix reports. Neither player particularly impressed, with Dwyer dashing five times for seven yards, versus Taylor's 10 yards on two carries. Although Taylor rings in at 5-9, 214, Dwyer's 5-11, 229 frame is more conducive to handling goal-line reps, which was evident in the Cardinals' second preseason outing on Dwyer's short touchdown run. However, the latest snap count for the duo points to Dwyer garnering most of the reserve running back reps behind Andre Ellington, at least to start the season.

Dwyer seems to have emerged as the primary reserve running back to starter Andre Ellington, the Cardinals' official site reports. On Saturday, Dwyer's five carries were spread about the Cardinals' first four drives, with Stepfan Taylor following him upon his removal. Neither option has impressed through two preseason tilts -- nine runs for 17 yards for Dwyer, versus Taylor's 17 carries for 26 yards and one catch for 11 yards -- but Dwyer punched in one of his goal-line chances for a touchdown this past weekend. Although the situation is subject to change, the job may be Dwyer's to lose at this point.
