Colt McCoy QB WAS 3 Days

McCoy (neck) was placed on injured reserve Tuesday, Mike Jones of the Washington Post reports.

Coach Jay Gruden had previously labeled McCoy as doubtful for Week 16, but apparently the setback with McCoy's neck injury is severe enough to keep him from the final two games of the 2014 campaign. Robert Griffin will return to the starting role Saturday against Philadelphia, with Kirk Cousins serving as his backup.

Coach Jay Gruden doesn't expect McCoy (neck) to suit up for Saturday's game against the Eagles, Mike Jones of the Washington Post reports.

With McCoy not expected to be in uniform this weekend, the team plans to start Robert Griffin on Saturday, with Kirk Cousins thus on track to serve as the team's backup QB in Week 16.

McCoy, who left Sunday's loss to the Giants after aggravating his neck injury, told Dianna Marie Russini of NBCWashington.com that he should be OK going forward.

McCoy tweaked his neck early in the game and was replaced by Robert Griffin III. "There is a disc aggravated in my neck, and when that gets fired up, I can't do anything," McCoy said. Even if McCoy is available next Saturday against the Eagles, it sounds like Washington's ever-changing quarterback carousel may take another turn. "We've got to look at film and see where we stand," head coach Jay Gruden said when asked about the quarterback situation moving forward. "Robert's definitely in the mix."

McCoy (neck) left Sunday's game against the Giants and is questionable to return.

Robert Griffin III is warming up on the sidelines as trainers examine McCoy. After spraining his neck in last week's game, McCoy made a speedier than expected recovery in order to be able to start this game, but it looks like he may have aggravated the injury. Stay tuned.

McCoy (neck) is listed as active Sunday against the Giants in New York.

After receiving clearance to start from a specialist Friday, McCoy brings to an end a week of questions regarding his ability to be under center. Even with a likely limited DeSean Jackson (shin) back in the fold, McCoy may find difficulty producing against a Giants defense that has given up 208 yards per game and six passing touchdowns over the past five outings.

McCoy (neck) received clearance to play and start against the Giants on Sunday, ESPN.com reports.

McCoy is technically listed as questionable on the injury report, but the news of his medical clearance pretty much overrules the injury report. McCoy will start Sunday and, if DeSean Jackson (leg, questionable) is able to suit up, it could actually be a favorable setting against a below average Giants defense. It's always playing with fire to use a player of McCoy's modest talent level in fantasy, however.

McCoy (neck) fully participated in Friday's practice but still needs to visit a specialist later Friday to receive full clearance for Sunday's game against the Giants. He is listed as questionable.

Gruden said there was some talk about starting a different quarterback this week, but McCoy's quick recovery ended that short-lived debate. McCoy received all of the first-team practice reps Friday, and assuming the evaluation with the specialist goes well, he will be under center come Sunday. "We've just got to make sure he's OK, that he can withstand the punishment," Gruden said.

McCoy (neck) took the majority of first-team practice snaps Thursday, the Washington Post reports. McCoy was listed as limited on the injury report but head coach Jay Gruden says "he had a good day."

McCoy is expected to start Sunday if he gets cleared by the medical staff. All signs point to him being on the field Sunday.

Coach Jay Gruden indicated Thursday that as long as McCoy (neck) is medically cleared, he will start Sunday's game against the Giants, ESPN's John Keim reports.

With that in mind, McCoy is slated to see a doctor Friday, and if that visit goes as hoped, McCoy will draw Washington's Week 15 starting QB nod. In the event that McCoy does not gain clearance to play this week, however, Robert Griffin "would go," per Gruden.

McCoy (neck) took the first snap during individual drills Thursday, CSN's Tarik El-Bashir reports.

The Redskins have not announced who will start at quarterback this week, but with McCoy lining up under center first Thursday, consider him the favorite to get the nod over Robert Griffin III so long as he is healthy enough to play.
