Osgood's value is on special teams. He doesn't play offense at all, and couldn't even get on the field last year as the Lions went through a bevy of receivers.

The 32-year-old Osgood is a coverage teams specialist, running down kickoffs and punts. His addition could be a bad sign for fifth receiver Maurice Stovall.

Jaguars released WR Kassim Osgood.

Osgood was due in excess of $2 million, which the Jags deemed too expensive for a one-trick pony special teamer who turns 32 in May. Osgood can still run down kickoffs and punts, but he couldn't even beat out Chastin West for playing time at receiver last season. Osgood may resurface for the NFL minimum.

Jaguars special teamer Kassim Osgood said he wants more action at wide receiver.

Osgood has no catches on the season even though the Jaguars field one of the league's worst receiver corps. "I feel like they put the baby in a corner. Now I know what they think of me," Osgood said on Twitter. The career special teamer has an inflated perception of his skills as a pass-catcher.
