Jermaine Gresham TE CIN 7 Days

Bengals placed TE Jermaine Gresham (back) on the active/PUP list.

Gresham underwent hernia surgery in the spring and missed OTAs and minicamp. He's not quite ready, but should be considered day-to-day or week-to-week. Gresham is way off the fantasy radar with Tyler Eifert in the fold.

Bengals TE Jermaine Gresham is sitting out OTAs while recovering from hernia surgery.

Gresham was previously described as sitting with a "physical issue." Why the Bengals thought they were gaining a competitive advantage by concealing the exact nature of Gresham's offseason injury is unclear. The Bengals' website hinted late last month that Gresham could miss the beginning of training camp, but he's expected to be ready for Week 1. Going into the final year of his rookie contract, Gresham should cede more snaps to Tyler Eifert than he did in 2013. He's a low-upside TE2 with little reason to be considered in fantasy leagues.

Jermaine Gresham is sitting out OTAs due to an undisclosed injury.

Per the Bengals' official website, Gresham is "dealing with a physical issue." Beat writer Geoff Hobson also indicates there's a chance Gresham could miss some time at the start of training camp, though it's not believed he'll be sidelined very long. Gresham is entering the final year of his deal and is a low-upside TE2.

Jermaine Gresham caught seven passes for 64 yards and a touchdown in the Bengals' playoff loss to San Diego.

Gresham scored his touchdown from four yards out midway through the second quarter on a dump-off pass from Andy Dalton. His receptions largely consisted of checkdowns, and Gresham played a bigger role than usual with Tyler Eifert nursing a shoulder injury. Gresham is under contract for $2,235,750 in 2014, including a $200,000 workout bonus. We suspect he will return to the Bengals unless Eifert makes major strides as a blocker during OTAs and training camp.

Jermaine Gresham (hamstring, questionable) practiced fully on Friday.

Gresham was limited in Wednesday and Thursday's practices, but the full Friday workout indicates he'll be in the starting lineup against San Diego.

Jermaine Gresham (hamstring) remained limited in Thursday's practice.

Gresham missed Sunday's win over the Ravens, but is expected to be ready for Cincinnati's Wild Card game against the Chargers. The Bolts allowed the 12th fewest fantasy points to tight ends this season.

Jermaine Gresham (hamstring) returned to practice Wednesday.

Gresham missed Week 17 with a hamstring injury, but is fully expected to be available for Sunday's Wild Card game against the Chargers. With Tyler Eifert (shoulder) still not cleared to practice, Orson Charles could see playing time behind Gresham in two-tight end sets.

Jermaine Gresham (hamstring) and Tyler Eifert (shoulder) are both inactive for Week 17 against the Ravens.

Alex Smith and Orson Charles will handle tight end duties. Both Eifert and Gresham should be available for the playoffs. Also inactive for the Bengals are CB Terence Newman, RB Rex Burkhead. OL Tanner Hawkinson, DL Devon Still, and WR Ryan Whalen.

Jermaine Gresham (hamstring) is listed as questionable for Week 17.

Beat writer Joe Reedy is guessing Gresham won't play in the regular season finale against Baltimore "unless he feels 100 percent." Tyler Eifert (shoulder) is doubtful, leaving Bengals tight end duties to blocker Alex Smith.

Jermaine Gresham (abdomen) is not practicing Thursday.

Perhaps Gresham's injury is more serious than initially thought. And since the Bengals can only earn a first-round bye if the Patriots lose at home to the Bills, it's possible he'll be held out of Week 17.
