Underwood has been released by the Panthers, the Tampa Bay Times reports.

Underwood signed a two-year deal with Carolina back in March following a career year in Tampa. The speedy but slight wideout failed to get going with the Panthers, registering just one catch (on two targets) for five yards during three preseason games. While Underwood was initially thought to be a sleeper or at least a deep threat in a remodeled Panthers' receiving corp, players like Brenton Bersin and Corey Brown have emerged as unheralded pass-catchers.

Panthers WR Tiquan Underwood "dropped passes throughout OTAs."

Underwood looked like he had a chance to start when the Panthers signed him to a two-year deal in March, but he's fallen down the totem pole. Carolina's top-three receivers are now Kelvin Benjamin, Jerricho Cotchery, and Jason Avant. 27-year-old Underwood could still be a useful situational deep threat.

ESPN Panthers reporter David Newton believes WR Tiquan Underwood is currently one of the top-three wide receivers in Carolina.

That is more an indictment of Carolina's receiving corps than anything else. Underwood is more suited to be a depth piece and situational deep threat, but he will be asked to do more for a Panthers' team in desperate need of wide receiver help. Underwood has a shot to surpass his career-high 440 receiving yards this season.

Panthers signed WR Tiquan Underwood, formerly of the Bucs, to a two-year contract.

Underwood and Jerricho Cotchery now sit atop the Carolina depth chart at receiver. Underwood, 27, had a career-year last season, catching 24 passes for 440 yards and four touchdowns. He started seven games opposite Vincent Jackson while Mike Williams was sidelined. Underwood owns a career 16.0 YPR mark and will provide a sneaky deep threat for Cam Newton.

Free agent Tiquan Underwood is visiting the Panthers on Thursday.

The well-traveled veteran would be little more than a flier for the receiver-needy Panthers, though he caught 24 passes for a career-high 440 yards with the Bucs last season. Underwood would have a strong chance at cracking the 53-man roster in Carolina.

Underwood now has just three grabs for 22 yards over his past three games. No. 2 receiver is not a fantasy-relevant position in the Bucs' offense.

Tiquan Underwood caught two passes for 15 yards in the Bucs' Week 15 loss to the 49ers.

Other than the Detroit game where he scored two touchdowns, Underwood has been a total dud in Tampa Bay's No. 2 receiver role with Mike Williams (hamstring) on I.R. Underwood has very little re-draft or Dynasty league value.

Despite his fluky big game in Week 12 against the Lions, Bucs No. 2 wide receiver Underwood is not a factor during the fantasy playoffs.

Underwood has been a predictable dud since Mike Williams was lost for the season. Leave him on the waiver wire ahead of a Week 12 tilt with Detroit.
