Free agent Austin Collie (knee) acknowledges that he likely won't be 100 percent until October.

Collie ruptured his right patella tendon late last September. He's "optimistic" about being ready for training camp, but might not be ready to contribute right off the bat. Collie also has a long history of concussions. After interviewing Collie, SI's Don Banks suggests he'll be open to a one-year, prove-it deal.

Free agent Austin Collie (knee) is "optimistic" he'll be ready for training camp.

Collie ruptured his right patellar tendon in Week 3 and missed the rest of the season. It remains to be seen which camp he'll be in, though, after the Colts announced that they will not be re-signing the injury-riddled slot receiver. Patellar tendon tears are tough injuries to come back from.

The Colts will not re-sign free agent Austin Collie.

After multiple concussions and a ruptured right patellar tendon, Collie won't be in a Colts uniform in 2013. Owner Jim Irsay called Collie "a warrior and an inspiration for the franchise and Colts fans around the world." Irsay also added that Collie is "a great player for us and a superstar for our community, and will always be a part of the Colts family." A reunion with Peyton Manning in Denver is certainly a possibility for Collie.

The Indianapolis Star's Bob Kravitz reports that the Colts will not re-sign free agents Dwight Freeney and Austin Collie.

We already knew Freeney wouldn't be back. The "news" is Indianapolis' decision to part with Collie, who is coming off a ruptured right patellar tendon in addition to several previous concussions. One Colts source told Kravitz that, "If Collie had come along the same time as (Peyton) Manning, and had stayed healthy, he would have put up Welker like numbers." We wouldn't be surprised to see Collie reunite with Manning in Denver, replacing Brandon Stokley.

Austin Collie has been diagnosed with a ruptured right patella tendon, and is done for the season.

It's the worst possible news for one of the league's most snakebitten players, and clouds Collie's status for Week 1 2013. Ruptured patella tendons are typically trickier to come back from than torn ACLs. The upshot is that it gives Collie another year to recover from his fourth concussion in 21 months, but that's probably not much of a silver lining for a player who fought hard to make his 2012 debut on Sunday. Two months shy of his 27th birthday, Collie will be a free agent in the offseason. It's quite possible his Colts career is through. For 2012, it means Donnie Avery is now entrenched as Andrew Luck's No. 2 receiver, and that rookies T.Y. Hilton, Coby Fleener and Dwayne Allen will be bigger parts of the game-plan going forward.

Austin Collie will have a Monday MRI on his right knee.

Making his return from his latest concussion, Collie lasted just three quarters. Per the Indy Star, the knee injury "appeared serious" and he couldn't put any weight on his right leg. "That's just a terrible, terrible thing," coach Chuck Pagano said. Donnie Avery will resume every-down wideout duties while Collie is out.

Austin Collie was carted off the field with a knee injury in the third quarter of Sunday's Week 3 game against Jacksonville.

Collie was making his 2012 debut after missing Weeks 1-2 with a concussion. The extent of the injury is currently unknown, but players almost never return after being taken off on carts. Collie played sparingly off the bench Sunday, rotating with rookie T.Y. Hilton on the third receiver role behind Reggie Wayne and Donnie Avery. Collie had one catch for six yards.
