Bears signed DTs Corvey Irvin and Christian Tupou, CB Maurice Jones, and WR Demetrius Fields.

These players earned contracts with solid performance at rookie minicamp. Irvin is the most notable name. A third-round pick in 2009 out of Georgia, Irvin has bounced between the Panthers, Bucs, Lions, and Jaguars' rosters.

Irvin was waived by the Panthers in early September after running as a starter in training camp. He'll add depth on the interior with run-plugging NT "Pot Roast" Knighton expected to miss another game.

Irvin never panned out as a 2009 third-round pick in Carolina, but the Lions likely had a high draft grade on him coming out of Georgia. Irvin will be given a shot to be Detroit's fourth defensive tackle until Nick Fairley gets healthy.

The Panthers are now down to 70 players; this is no easy process. Burney and Adams are expected to receive practice squad consideration in Carolina. Adams was Cam Newton's pal at Auburn. Irvin has busted as a former third-round pick.
