USA Today's Mike Garafolo reports the Jets have "had conversations" with free agent WR Ramses Barden.

The 6-foot-6 wideout's market has been nonexistent, but could pick up now that the draft has come and gone. Little more than a big target, the former third-round pick caught just 20 passes in four seasons with the Giants.

The New York Daily News reports the Giants are "still an option" for free agent WR Ramses Barden.

Barden, 27, just last month said it would probably be best if the two sides parted ways, but the receiver has drawn zero interest in the opening week of free agency. If he were to re-sign, Barden wouldn't be any higher than the No. 4 or 5 receiver in New York.

The Charlotte Observer expects the Panthers to explore free agent WRs Ramses Barden and Domenik Hixon.

Connecting the dots with this is easy. New GM Dave Gettleman came over from the Giants and knows Hixon and Barden quite well. Beat writer Joe Person suspects Barden "could thrive" in the Panthers' vertical passing game. Carolina saw firsthand what Barden can do. He had the best game of his career in Week 3 in Carolina, catching nine passes for 138 yards.

Free agent WR Ramses Barden said "it's probably best" if he plays elsewhere in 2013.

The Giants have some interest in re-signing Barden, but both sides agreed that he'll test the open market. Barden's size -- 6-foot-6, 224 pounds -- will pique teams' interest, but he's yet to produce in his four years in the league.

The Giants have interest in re-signing free agent Ramses Barden, but will let him hit the open market.

"We have spoken and they do have interest in re-signing him," Barden's rep said. "(But) we agreed that he'll test the market and see how it unfolds." Translation, if Barden is back in New York, it will be on the Giants' terms. The 2009 third-round pick has just 29 catches through four seasons, nine of which came against the Panthers last Week 3. Barden's 6-foot-6, 224 pounds may intrigue a few teams on the open market, but his tape won't do him any more favors than his numbers.

Ramses Barden hinted that he does not expect a long-term deal from the Giants before free agency opens.

Barden erupted for nine catches and 138 yards in Week 3 when both Hakeem Nicks and Domenik Hixon were sidelined. But he subsequently fell behind rookie Reuben Randle and totaled just four catches the rest of the way. "My agent and I just have to sit down with the Giants' management and hopefully both parties can find a way to keep me around," Barden said. "Free agency doesn't open until March so I'll have a better idea of where I'll be playing then."

Giants WR Ramses Barden (concussion) is listed as probable for Week 7.

Barden practiced fully throughout the week, so he is going to play. Hakeem Nicks (foot) is likely to return on Sunday, and with Domenik Hixon playing well ahead of him, Barden's depth chart standing is uncertain. He's not worth owning beyond 16-team leagues.
