Cox signed with the Patriots on Monday. Cox joins the Patriots after sitting out last season following two failed auditions with the Vikings and Ravens. Those setbacks came after Cox was released just one year into a four-year, $20 million contract he signed with the Chargers in 2013. Now looking to regain the promise he showed with the Jaguars through his first four NFL seasons, Cox will compete for a roster spot with the Patriots this summer.

The Ravens cut Cox on Saturday, Aaron Wilson of the Baltimore Sun reports. Cutting Cox could just be a sneaky move by the Ravens front office since they could re-sign him next week and avoid guaranteeing his salary for the entire season. It also bodes well for injured corners Lardarius Webb (back) and Jimmy Smith (chest) that the team felt comfortable going without Cox for Sunday's game against the Bengals.

Cox re-signed with the Ravens on Tuesday. Cox was released by the Ravens on Saturday, but now returns to the team in a planned procedural move. With Baltimore a bit banged-up at cornerback, Cox could see an increased snap count if Lardarius Webb (back) and Jimmy Smith (chest) are limited at all in Week 1. However, with Webb and Smith entrenched as the Ravens' starting cornerbacks, and Asa Jackson and Chykie Brown also talented reserves, Cox will likely serve as the team's fourth or fifth option at the position this season.

Cox was released by the Ravens on Saturday, but the transaction is considered procedural, as he's expected to re-sign with the team before Week 1, The Baltimore Sun reports. Signed by the Ravens earlier in the week, Cox has now been released by three teams this year, after signing a four-year, $20 million contract with the Chargers last offseason. In any case, it appears he's finally found a home, though he'll likely just be the fourth or fifth cornerback upon rejoining the Ravens. Cox could perhaps be worth a glance in deeper IDP leagues, if Lardarius Webb (back) and Jimmy Smith (chest) both fail to make it back for Week 1 against the Bengals.

Cox is expected to sign with the Ravens on Wednesday, The Baltimore Sun reports. Cox was cut earlier this week by the Vikings, which followed the Chargers letting the cornerback go just one season into a four-year, $20 million deal signed last offseason. However, with the Ravens currently mending injuries to Lardarius Webb (back), Jimmy Smith (chest), and Asa Jackson (ankle), a veteran presence like Cox should help Baltimore's secondary in the early going this season.

Cox was cut by the Vikings on Monday, ESPN reports. Cox inked a four-year, $20 million contract with the Chargers in March of 2013, but lasted just one season in San Diego amid largely underwhelming returns on that hefty investment. While the cornerback aimed to rebound with the Vikings this term, he failed to earn significant action during the preseason, leading Minnesota to release Cox on Monday. The veteran will now hit the free agent market having been cut twice since the end of last season.

Chargers released CB Derek Cox. Cox inked a four-year, $20 million contract on the second day of free agency last year and received $10.25 million guaranteed for one season of utterly mediocre play. The Chargers save $4.25 million in cash but are eating $3.9 million in dead money against the cap. The move clears just $1.65 million in cap space. Cox was benched multiple times last season. He was deemed expendable for a team that really needs corner help. Cox is still just 27 years old.

CB Derek Cox is not expected to return to the Chargers in 2014. Cox was perhaps the biggest bust of 2013 free agency. He landed a four-year, $20 million from the Chargers and proceeded to grade out as one of the league's worst corners and got benched in favor of street pickups like Crezdon Butler repeatedly. Giving up on Cox before the new year would save $4.5 million in cash and up to $2.6 million against the 2014 cap, but it would create $3.9 million in total dead money.

Chargers CB Derek Cox was benched yet again in Sunday's Week 12 win at Kansas City. It's the third time in four games Cox has been benched. On Sunday, he gave up a 32-yard touchdown to Donnie Avery and then another 36-yard gain to Avery. Cox, who signed a four-year, $20 million deal in free agency, didn't play a snap in the second half. Even when Shareece Wright went down with an injury in the second half, the coaches turned to Crezdon Butler instead of Cox.
