The Chiefs remain open to bringing back some of their 11 unsigned unrestricted free agents.
GM Scott Pioli indicated that DE Wallace Gilberry, in particular, wanted to revisit talks after the draft. "We had talked to Wallace a number of times during the season about an extension," Pioli said. "We talked to him during the offseason and Wallace wasn't ready to make a move and wasn't ready to do anything. He wanted to see what his market was."

Chiefs DE Wallace Gilberry has been as impressive as any defensive player in training camp.
Noticeably bigger in the upper body this year, Gilberry has been "almost unstoppable" rushing the passer off the edge. Beat writer Bob Gretz noted that every offensive tackle on the roster has been embarrassed "at least once" by Gilberry's power rush. The situational pass rusher finished second only to Tamba Hali with seven sacks last year.

Chiefs re-signed restricted free agent DE Wallace Gilberry to a one-year, $1.9 million contract.
Coordinator Romeo Crennel smartly limited Gilberry to a pass-rushing specialist role, and the 26-year-old emerged as one of two 3-4 defensive ends to produce 40 or more "quarterback disruptions" in 2010. He'll play the same role this season.
